Innova Solutions have had a long-term association with the extrusion market. Most plastic extruders manufacture products that lend themselves to have double-sided tape applied in-line to produce self-adhesive conduit or trim for many final applications.

Pressure on margins in a competitive market has resulted in manufacturers seeking out cheaper tapes to apply to their extruded products. This competition has coerced some tape suppliers into selling the wrong technology into the application and in fact, many are ‘unfit for purpose’, ie they will not hold an extrusion securely in place and when this happens, a costly product recall or replacement coupled with detriment to company image far outweighs the false economy of purchasing a cheaper tape.

NovaFix have developed a range of tapes to meet the specific performance criteria of bonding plastic extruded parts and trims whilst keeping economy in mind. Both products in the range utilise a specially developed solvent acrylic adhesive technology which exhibits excellent initial tack and ultimate adhesion to thermoplastics. NovaFix ‘ExtruFoam’ – a white, medium density foam on a blue filmic liner. This product is available in two thicknesses as standard, 1mm and 2mm to provide 100% surface contact on the most irregular of surfaces. As there are no standard widths in terms of extruded products, rolls are slit to customers individual requirements and are available in 50m and 100m flat rolls and also bobbins to improve production efficiency.

NovaFix ‘ExtruTape’ – a clear polyester tape with an overall thickness of 0.23mm for bonding to very smooth, flat surfaces where aesthetics demand an invisible bond line. The dimensions and availability are as flexible as the ‘ExtruFoam’.
